Pendulum Painting: A toddler friendly process art event

Get ready to swing, drip, and create! During our Pendulum Painting morning, children will experiment with paint-filled pendulums suspended above large canvases. As children push, pull, and release the pendulums, they’ll watch paint travel across the canvas in loops, lines, splatters, and unexpected patterns.

This child-led process art experience focuses on exploration rather than a finished product. Children can experiment with movement, speed, direction, and color while creating collaboratively on a large scale. It’s messy, active, and designed to give young artists the freedom to discover what happens when art and motion come together.

The experience is neurodivergent-friendly, with no expectation to sit still or create in a particular way. Children may participate, observe, take breaks, and rejoin at their own comfort level. Painting will take place outdoors whenever weather permits, and protective art ponchos will be provided.
