Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

The Salvation Army will host the 52nd Annual Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament in Downtown Flint July 25 and 26. Early registration check-in for pre-registered teams begins Friday, July 24 from 3-7 pm. Tournament play will commence following the opening ceremony at 8 am on Saturday, July 25.Gus Macker Basketball is more than just a game; it’s a celebration of basketball, community, and the spirit of competition.

Founded in 1974 by Scott McNeal, the Macker tournament began as a small, backyard gathering of friends in Lowell, Michigan. Over the years, it has grown into a nationwide phenomenon, bringing people of all ages and backgrounds together through the love of basketball. The Gus Macker is a fundraiser for the Salvation Army L.I.F.E. Center, Living Intentionally for Excellence. The Center hosts after-school and food programs for youth to help young people discover their gifts, dream big and build the character needed to succeed. Located on Coldwater Road in the Beecher District in the heart of Flint, the Center engages children by improving their scholastic achievements and attendance, to being a star pupil in terms of citizenship and more.
