It’s a Wonderful Life; 1940s Radio Hour Show presented by the Whaley House Players

It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) follows George Bailey, a kind-hearted man in the small town of Bedford Falls who has spent his life putting others first. Though he dreams of traveling the world and building great things, circumstances repeatedly force him to give up his ambitions—taking over his father’s building and loan business, supporting his family, and protecting the town from the greedy tycoon Mr. Potter.

When a financial crisis leads George to believe he’s worth more dead than alive, he contemplates ending his life on Christmas Eve. His guardian angel, Clarence, intervenes and shows him what the world would look like if he had never been born. In this alternate reality, Bedford Falls is bleak and corrupt, his loved ones are suffering, and the community is worse off without his quiet acts of kindness.

Realizing the profound impact he’s had on others, George begs to return to his life. His wish is granted, and he finds his family and friends rallying to support him, proving that he truly is “the richest man in town.”
